Instead of giving approval, the villagers asked for some time and then left their houses overnight. But before living, they cursed the village that nobody can inhabit the villages ever. Some stories even say that heavy taxes were levied on Paliwal community and as a result, they had no option, but to vacate and just disappear from the reach of the ruler. Ajmer Dargah Sharif

Ajmer Sharif Dargah, gets all his or her wishes fulfilled. Ajmer Sharif is a Sufi shrine and one of the most visited places in Ajmer. The pious Persian Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti who is well-known for its secular preaching is enshrined here. Many Muslims believe that Moinuddin Chisti was Muhammad’s direct descendant and it was on his request (Muhammad came to his dream) he went to India. He reached Ajmer in 1192 via Lahore and stayed there till his death in 1236 AD.

His shrine was built by Mughal Emperor Humayun, and in order to enter the dargah, you need to go through a series of massive doors made from silver with beautiful carvings. As you reach the courtyard, you would come across the tomb of Moinuddin Chishti, carved out of marble. It has gold plating on top and is guarded by a railing made from silver and a marble screen.

There are several mosques inside the dargah complex, built by Akbar and Shah Jahan, who made it a point to visit Ajmer at least once a year.

Pichola Lake - History,About,Entry Fee,Timing - August 2021

With dimensions of 3 miles in length, 2 miles in width and a depth of 30 feet, Lake Pichola has four main islands namely Jag Niwas, Jag Mandir, Mohan Mandir and Arsi Vilas.

History of Lake Pichola
Mesmerising the visitors with its charm and enchanting beauty, Lake Pichola is an artificial lake built in the year of 1362 AD and one of the popular sightseeing places to visit in Udaipur. It was built by a Banjara tribesman, Pichhu Banjara who used to transport grain during the reign of Maharana Lakha.

The captivating lake attracted Maharana Udai Singh so much that he established the city of Udaipur on the banks of this very lake. Maharana Udai Singh is credited with enlarging the lake further by building a dam on the shore of the lake.

Later, several islands, palaces, temples, mansions, and bathing ghats were developed in the surroundings of the lake over a period of time, making it even more attractive.

One of the most famous attractions in the lake surroundings is Lake Palace that sits right in the middle of the lake, constructed on the Jag island. Mohan Mandir, built by Jagat Singh between the period 1628-1652 and Jag Mandir are other islands that are worth a visit.

Jag Mandir Udaipur

Jag Mandir is a fascinating palace that is built on an island in Udaipur. The palace has its exact location on the southern part of the beautiful Lake Pichola. Counted amongst the most prominent tourist attractions of Udaipur, the three storied palace is a fine example of Rajput style of architecture.

The construction of this structure of yellow sandstone and marble was completed in the 17th century by Maharana Jagat Singh I. Being a property of the Royal Mewar family, the palace was mainly governed as a summer resort by the rulers in the bygone era.

Jag Mandir Palace in Udaipur

History
Construction of Jag Mandir Palace at first was started by Maharana Amar Singh of Sisodia Rajputs of the Mewar kingdom. The construction work continued later by the two succeeding rulers of the clan- Maharana Karan Singh and Maharana Jagat Singh I. Other than that, the palace has an interesting history revolving around it.

It all started with Maharana Karan Singh of the Sisodia Rajput clan, getting all benevolent with the great Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The Mughal ruler conspired against his father; Jahangir to be crowned the next king. On smelling danger in the execution of his plans, he sought refuge in the territory of Mewar kingdom, under the rule of Maharana Karan Singh.

The Mughal family (Shah Jahan with his wife and two sons) were shifted to various safe havens (palaces and forts) in the Mewar kingdom. In the end they were rested at a domed pavilion known as Gul Mahal, which was later transformed into a fascinating palace.

These friendlies between the Mughals and the Rajputs soon fell prey to the irony of time, when Maharana Amar Singh was defeated by the very hands of Shah Jahan, known by the name of ‘Khurram’ at that time.

The transformed Gul Mahal underwent various additions in the reign of Maharana Jagat Singh I. For his brilliant designing of the structure, the ruler came to be known as one of the best architects in all of the Mewar dynasty. It is due to this, the final structure was named as Jag Mandir, after him.
